How does our hosted VoIP phone system work?
With a hosted or cloud based telephony, the telephone switchboard hardware is located in a fully managed datacentre. Our Cloud PBX is hosted in high-availability datacenters in City of London and Maidenhead. The management and support of this system is handled by our team of telecommunication specialists.
Hosted telephony is based on VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) and allows you to make telephone calls using your existing broadband connection. When you make a call, your IP desktop phone connected to the LAN converts the voice into a digital packets (using the SIP protocol) for transmission over the internet. This call is fully controlled by our Cloud PBX platform and is securely transferred over the internet. If you make a call to another IP phone, the opposite process occurs at the other end. As the calls between these IP phones stays within our managed internet network, all these calls for example between your offices are completely free.
If you make a call to a mobile or landline, our hosted VoIP phone system sends the call to the SIP provider where is decoded and sent over the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to the called subscriber.
